A rolled insect as a description of the struggle to stay upright in life only for it to end so abruptly earns it the title, hence vision. Most people take photos of plants or skeletons, at least the photographers I follow all over the web, to represent death. Insects are so prolific we forget they are a part of our universe, that they are required to sustain this world, with food, with fodder for new plant life...it brings the Egyptian lore regarding scarabs to mind...so originality.
I am a poor one to judge technique, and my rating is more reflective of my simplistic knowledge than it is of the photographer's skills. Managing to catch, or arrange, the dark against the light does bring the effect of "going towards the light" as described in Near Death Experiences.
The Impact for me is is a fresh reminder that no matter or energy is ever created or destroyed, merely changed from one to the other. So, we're never truly here or gone...our existence is a flash in time.
